DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH, the German air navigation service provider, is a State-owned company under private law and has 5,350 employees. DFS ensures the safe and punctual flow of air traffic over Germany. Staff coordinate up to 10,000 aircraft movements in German airspace every day, and nearly three million movements every year. This makes Germany the country with the highest traffic volume in Europe. DFS operates control centres in Langen, Bremen, Karlsruhe and Munich. In addition, DFS is represented in the Eurocontrol Centre in Maastricht, the Netherlands, and in the control towers of the 16 international German airports. DFS provides training and consultancy services around the world and develops and sells air traffic control, surveillance and navigation systems. At the ATC Global 2010, DFS will present its newly developed tower console with the air and ground situation display system Phoenix plus the associated electronic flight strips, the Position Logging system PoLo for documenting the controller’s working times at a working position and its competence in simulations. In addition, the 4D Planner arrival management system and the Incident Analyser tool, which visualises and replays air traffic situations, will be shown. Together with the cooperation partner Munich airport operator FMG, DFS will present its airport collaborative decision-making process. The FCS Flight Calibration Service GmbH and The Tower Company, a subsidiary of DFS, will also be at the stand.
